Tomorrow, my kids are going back to school. My oldest begins navigating the new field of middle school. He gets to change classes and keep his locker clean.
My youngest will be starting second grade. She gets to have her cubby and new classroom decorated with monkeys.
So, how do you make the first day back to school special? What traditions to do you keep?

We always take a photo that morning of Day One. And the night before, everybody piles in the car (including the dog) and we got to Dairy Queen for a dip cone. ALWAYS. (The dog gets his in a cup.)
Oh dear, am I supposed to do that? See today’s post about being a bad mom.
We generally do our back to school shopping pretty close to the first day (because again, I’m a bad mom who puts that off until the last minute), and that is always fun. They love picking out folders & notebooks and some little $1-2 gifty to celebrate back to school. Does that count as a tradition?
I love the Dairy Queen idea. Of course, anything that involves ice cream makes me excited.
Counts as a tradition in my book, blog, whatever. I have been teaching so doing something special the first day has not happened ever. This year, I will try to do something…just don’t know what yet.
My daughter is starting 1st Grade this year. Her first time to sit at a desk by herself!!!
To give her feelings of stability in this new adventure – I continue to put love notes in her lunch box!
She TOTALLY loves this! It’s the 1st thing she comments on about her day when I pick her up.
Here from iFellowship! I hope your kids enjoy their first week of school!
Each of my children puts on a new outfit or shirt, and we take a photo on the 1st day of school. Good luck with your 1st day!
Thanks for sharing. Happy iFellowship Day!
